Plumer (1857 1932) went on to become a Field Marshal and commanded the British Second Army in Flanders in World War I. He was made a Baron in 1919, and served as Governor of Malta and then High Commissioner of the British Mandate of Palestine Portrait from Celebrities of the Army, published by George Newnes, (London, 1902).
