The cap is fully surrounded by fold down side panels, secured in place by dual rows of machine stitching on each side. Stitched onto the peak of the cap is a GIL insignia, constructed of silvered bronze, consisting of a fasces overlaid by a sword and shield, the latter bearing raised initials GIL. The insignia measures 30 mm (w) x 55 mm (h). The
