This wonderful little solid brass duck lives most happily on a desk

The box measures 9 1/2" long x 4 1/2" deep x 1 7/8" tall

The top latch on the front opens to reveal two interior trays (and an underside of the lid that is as ornately decorated as the exterior

it seems there was a whole set of them produced (copyright 1947)

The hinges are in good shape

I am not entirely sure whether this little fan is Japanese or Chinoiserie, but I think it's very sweet, down to the stippled leaves on the trees that hover over the figures, and the gold and white painted detail on the sticks.
