Wrest Park was built in 1834 1839, inspired by 18th century French chateaux, and is set in over 90 acres of gardens. The house was designed by its owner, Thomas de Grey, 2nd Earl de Grey, an amateur architect who was the first president of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).
