The German airship 'Hindenburg' blows up tony 'The Overdrove ox'The German airship 'Hindenburg' blows up, Lakehurst, New Jersey, USA, 6 May 1937. The passenger airship 'Hindenburg' was destroyed when it caught fire while mooring. 13 passengers and 22 members of the crew were killed in the accident as well as one person on the ground. The disaster ended the era of airship travel.
