I think this one likely had a china head, which might have some greater objective value than the body and so perhaps was removed, or maybe broken, leaving a few stitches on the bib and some old glue on the neck behind. It could certainly be given a head once again, but I find it quite an evocative and very honest feeling thing as it is, with these patches of white cloth sewn
