It appears that the date carved into the bottom is 1974
but lying flat now
I believe he dates to the late 40s or so
) I’ve figured out a few things
emphasizing the wake at his knees and distant ocean horizon at his waist
Extra Large Painted Folk Art Spinning Top 1917 carving It appears that the dateAt one point surely there was a string that wrapped around this which one would use to set it spinning, but I like it just as an object now, and rather a patriotic one, too, hand painted red white and blue. It's about as large a wooden top as Ive seen, with a satisfying form and metal disks at either end, meaning it could be wound and spun on either end. Id guess 1940s or so. 6 1 4 l x 3 1 4 d and in good condition.
