the winery is about 15 miles from the cool Pacific Coast

it is powerful and age-worthy with a steely character and a grey-tinted aura to the faded rose-petal robe

grown on poor Granite soils

but the timing of it did create some mildew challenges which reduced crop size a bit

Champagne Dhondt-Grellet Dans Un Premier Temps Brut NV CALABRIA For over 20 yearsThis the first cuve of Adrien's range and he intends it to be an expression of all six hectares of his holdings spread across Sezanne, Cuis, and Avenay val d'Or. The blend is 50% Chardonnay (Sezanne), 30% Pinot Noir (Avenay Val d'Or), and 20% Pinot Meunier (from old vines in Cuis). The base vintage is 70% of the blend with the remainder a perpetual reserve started in 1986. Dosage is between 5g l to 6g l.
